Strike it rich like it's 1949! This gorgeous native Poppy will reward gardeners with a seemingly endless cache of double, golden-petaled 2-3" flowers. Brilliant orange centers shine through deeply ruffled yellow petals of flowers held aloft in feathery blue-green foliage. Spring thru summer, local bees and butterflies will rush to collect the bounty these blooms provide. Plant in drifts to mimic the sun-drenched carpet look found on California's hillsides, or tuck in and amongst other drought tolerant perennials, Penstemon 'Blue Springs', Eriogonum grande rubescens, and a bevy of Mimulus. Once established, they need little water. To maintain as a perennial, avoid watering once leaves begin to dry out. Cut back dead growth to the ground once you see a flush of new growth. Will easily self-sow if plants are left in place.
